The INSTI HIV Self Test was approved for use in Canada on Nov. 3, 2020, in part thanks to research done by the same team behind I’m Ready to Know. The overall accuracy is rated at over 99%, meaning that there is over a 99% probability that either a positive or a negative result will be correct. If you become part of the I’m Ready program you can get up to three free INSTI HIV Self Test Kits.

The INSTI HIV Self Test is currently the only HIV self-test approved in Canada.

How to Get a Free Test

Once you have downloaded the I’m Ready, Test mobile app, you’ll be asked to:  

1. Complete eligibility questions and accept our Terms of Use and Privacy policy, create a profile and answer a short pre-test survey;

2. Choose to have up to three self-test kits delivered to your home or another address, or opt to pick up a single kit at any one of our pickup locations. If you already have a kit, continue to step #3; 

3. Once you have your self-test kit, open your I’m Ready, Test app again. You’ll then follow the steps in the app and use the test kit’s instructions to take the self-test; 

4. When you’re done the test, you’ll record your result in the app anonymously and continue on in the app to access more information to keep you healthy by treating or preventing HIV.
